Answers to your common questions

The questions patients ask us most, in plain words.

01Do you take my insurance?

We bill most PPO dental plans and file the claim for you. Whether we are in network depends on your plan, so call us before you book and we will check. Our How fees work page explains each kind of coverage.

02What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee for your visit, and we give you a written estimate before treatment starts. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

03Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Call us and we will tell you plainly, before you book, whether we take your plan. Our How fees work page explains how we handle each kind of coverage.

04Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we start, and you can raise a hand for a break at any time. Many people feel pressure and not pain. If you feel more than that, tell us and we will adjust.

05How often do I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides, based on your health, your history and your last X-rays. Many patients come twice a year and some come more often. We agree on a schedule with you after your first visit.

06What is a deep cleaning?

A cleaning below the gumline, which your dentist recommends after measuring your gums. It often takes more than one visit, and we explain why before we start.

07Do you see children, and from what age?

Yes. Our dentists see children, teens and adults. Call us to ask about your child's age and what a first visit looks like. You can stay with your child during the visit.

08What counts as a dental emergency?

Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop needs emergency care: go to an emergency room or call 911. For a broken or knocked-out tooth, or pain that won't wait, call us and we will tell you what we can do today.

09Do you offer sedation, and who gives it?

We use local numbing, which your dentist gives with a trained assistant in the room. We don't offer sedation in this office. If you want it, we refer you to a dentist who does, and you can ask them who gives it and how they watch over you.

10Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. After your exam your dentist lists the treatment, the visits it takes and the fee, and our front desk goes through your benefits with you. You can ask for the estimate in writing at any time.

11Do you speak Spanish?

Dr. Ibarra sees patients in Spanish, and this site is also in Spanish. Tell us your preferred language when you book, and we will match you with a Spanish speaker when we can.

12How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call or message us as early as you can and we will move you to another time. Ask about our cancellation policy when you book.

Still have questions?

Call or send a message and we will answer in plain words.
